This multidisciplinary exhibition of the work of 37international fine artists explores the meaning behind the word ‘immurement’ and the history of the crypt beneath London’s St Pancras Parish Church.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines immurement as the condition of being enclosed or confined against your will; a theme each individual artist will interpret in their works on display.

From an oil-on-canvas painting of children hypnotised by games on their phones to a human size clothes rack offering physical and emotional therapy, we will take you on a visual journey through this labyrinthine gallery space, revealing what it means to be imprisoned from a modern perspective.

The walls of St Pancras Parish Church crypt will provide a dynamic backdrop to the exhibition, themselves holding stories of war, shelter and death.

PRIVATE VIEW: 7th of November 2019 6-9 pm

About preparing exhibition

In this exhibition, I am in the marketing group, responsible for website design and production, website QR code, and various exhibition promotion projects.

During the pre-planning to the exhibition, our marketing team has held about three group meetings, and several times through social media to solve various problems. Such as overall visual planning, website design, posters and different promotional materials, manufacturers' prices and decisions to cooperate with printing company.

The marketing plan divided into three significant time periods:

1.From the end of June to the middle of September - visual design and website construction

2.Mid of September to October - exhibition publicity print and publicity posting, social media marketing Facebook, Instagram promotion

3.October to November-Printing and layout of media exposure and exhibition line indicators- media exposure, exhibition line indicators printed and arranged.

In the entire marketing team's work, we helped and assisted each other. Even if we encountered cooperation problems (site personal information and work configuration related issues), everyone also held a coordination meeting to discuss, communicate and find solutions in order to find a consensus; therefore, the exhibition can be successfully organized and completed.

About the spirit of teamwork

During the promotion period, our team posted posters to other colleges and posted posters in the East, West, South, and North districts of London. Other groups of members (even those who are not in the marketing group) also helped to post them throughout London. When I asked the many stores whether could I post the poster in their stores, most stores were not willing to let me display it. However, after I negotiated with a store(Bibimbabcafe), their manager was willing to let me post it, and the location was opposite the British Museum. Also, they assisted me in putting our exhibition on the pavement of their store to promote our show.

Secondly, before the exhibition coming, when I posted the banner, I had to climb the fence to tie the flag. Several passers-by on the road also helped to watch me because they were afraid that I might fall. At the end of the dismantling of the exhibition, other groups also helped us to take down the banner and posters. Everyone put all the works together on the truck. Finally, I feel that I am very fortunate to be able to exhibit with all members of MFA Fine Arts, as well as the assistance and guidance of all the teachers. As a result, the exhibition can be successfully completed.
